A Fresh New Landing Page Using No Code?

Is now the time to build a new portfolio landing page? Set yourself 2 days and see where you can get to!

Originally sent in my Ready Set Grow newsletter

Hi Reader,

Now that winter is approaching fast, I’ve started to spend a bit more time indoors. I tasked myself to design and ship a brand-new landing page within 2 days. Otherwise, I’ll never get something out there.

Framer Sites and Webflow were the two no-code tools that came to mind when doing this. I chose to use Framer Sites, mainly because I wanted to learn a new tool and the barriers to entry to learn the tool are pretty low.

Right now I’m a big fan of the Figma and Gumroad design language. I wanted my landing page to be more “fun”, “engaging” and have something that would “pop”. That’s why I went for using high-contrast colours with borders.

Framer Sites has quite an expensive monthly subscription fee to publish a website; however, it is super easy to use and pick up. When you're looking for a job in uncertain times, faffing around on no-code tools is not the most fun thing to be doing when creating your new portfolio site. Framer Sites can be a pain-free way to make a portfolio site.

I have to say there are a few tutorials online on how to use Framer Sites but it’s nowhere near as extensive as Webflow and the Webflow University tutorials. I love learning from others through video, knowing Webflow has a ton of tutorials puts me more at ease. But the Framer Site videos are sufficient for now.

I hope this can inspire you to update your landing page over the weekend and be content with whatever you land at over the 2-day challenge.

P.S - In the next newsletter I will write openly about the recent lay-offs at Meta and give my personal perspective on what happened. Be sure to share the newsletter with others.

A Quick Read To Put You At Ease About The Recession.

The number one takeaway I gathered from this book is you just can’t predict the future of what’s going to happen to the economy. So instead of trying to guess, build up your own safety net, aim for 6 months of savings (easier said than done).
Savings mean you still remain in control if you lose a job, or you want to quit your job, you have freedom and a buffer to fall back on. That’s the power of savings. Making sure you’re in control, not worried about if you lose your job next week.

Lastly learnt to be content and know when you have "enough".

Working in tech, it’s really interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes stories about very famous data breaches and how they started off. Hear about shadow government activity, hacktivism, cybercrime and more!
It’s good to build a wider understanding of the importance of security. I highly recommend listening to how the great LinkedIn hack came about and the Pizza Gate story.
